The 40th Anniversary of the Apollo program



This series of commemorative rocket launch flights are staged by FLARE, the Fellowship of Las Cruces Area Rocketry Enthusiasts. We will launch scale models of both Historic White Sands rocketships, and Apollo era spacecraft.

Allen Theatres have donated the use of a 230 seat theater for a special showing of the movie Apollo13 on Thursday March 8th, 2012 at the Cineport 10 Theater, 700 S. Telshor, Las Cruces NM. Show times will be at 4:00 and 7:30pm. Gene Kranz (NASA White Team Flight Director) and Charlie Duke (Apollo 11 Moon Landing Apollo 13 movieCAPCOM and Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot, 10th human to walk on the moon) will address our audience in a discussion of the Apollo program. They will speak after the 4:00 movie, and before the 7:30 showing. Mike Shinabery, Education Specialist from the New Mexico Museum of Space History, will moderate the discussion.

The movie Apollo 13 by Tom Hanks and Ron Howard, 1995, was nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture; it won for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing.


Please be aware that these tickets are only sold here. Allen Theatres will not sell these tickets, and tickets will not be available on the day of the show. Please print your email confirmation and bring it to the show.
